Women’s History Month Program: Mary McLeod Bethune and Black Women’s Activism

In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Garden State Bar Association is pleased to join the Association of Black Women Lawyers of New Jersey (ABWL-NJ) for a special virtual presentation featuring Deborah Tulani Salahu-Din, Co-Curator at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C.

This program will explore the enduring legacy of Mary McLeod Bethune and the pivotal role Black women have played in leadership, social justice, historical change, and contemporary activism. Drawing from the Smithsonian exhibition Forces for Change: Mary McLeod Bethune and Black Women’s Activism, the presentation will highlight Bethune’s impact and the broader tradition of Black women’s leadership in shaping American history.
