GSBA TUITION SCHOLARSHIP
The Garden State Bar Association (GSBA) invites eligible law students to apply for its annual Tuition Scholarship, which will be awarded at the 51st Anniversary Scholarship & Awards Gala to be held in 2026 (date and location to be announced).
Founded to support attorneys in establishing and sustaining successful legal careers in New Jersey, the GSBA created its Scholarship Fund over thirty years ago to assist law students attending New Jersey law schools. The program has since expanded to include New Jersey residents attending accredited law schools in other states.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
Be currently enrolled in a New Jersey law school or be a New Jersey resident enrolled in an accredited law school outside New Jersey;
Be a current member of the GSBA at the time of application (join for free at www.gardenstatebar.org);
As of Fall 2025, be a full-time 2L or 3L graduating in May 2026, or a part-time 2L, 3L, or 4L student;
Demonstrate financial need;
Be significantly involved in law school and/or community activities that benefit the African-American or Black community;
Submit all of the following in a single PDF:

Current resume
One-page biography
Unofficial law school transcript from the Registrar’s online portal
Application Timeline
The application will be released in or around late 2025 and remain open through early to mid 2026.
Selected applicants may be invited for virtual or in-person interviews with the Scholarship Committee.
Final recipients will be notified in advance and formally recognized at the 2026 GSBA Scholarship & Awards Gala.
